I was sent this article by a patient and thought it was a really nice article after I read it. It is written by a patient advocate-unassociated with Bomamed, with some great insight.
Her point is that there may be some wonderful options to consider if you have thyroid problems that are not severe.
She also underscores the importance of not self supplementing! This is advice that I very much agree with, as I have seen people get into a lot of trouble doing this.

How many people are out there suffering with insomnia? Too many. The numbers are astounding, I am sure. What is worse is that there is little out there that really addresses insomnia in a successful manner. What is worse is that numerous people become addicted to meds that help with sleep, often benzodiazapenes, which create a cycle of illness in the body that, in some cases, may take years to recover from.

Someone asked me yesterday if she should not treat her kids with herbs often bc this will weaken their immunity like using antibiotics, or NSAIDS such as advil or tylenol. Those can and do actually complicate things and often drive the virus or the bacteria in deeper and will likely create a situation in which the pathogen will come back again soon or turn into something more chronic.

One hears the word detox amongst friends perhaps not often, but often enough. I hear that word constructed in a question form at the clinic all the time. People have been increasingly interested in the idea of doing a "detox" to get healthy these days.

It seems we are a nation of many diseases that have inflammation at its root. Why is this? In our
opinion it is because we have poor diets and take medications unnecessarily and incorrectly.
The sugar and alcohol and over consumption of starch in our diets all lead to inflammation and imbalances in our intestines. The chemicals we consume within our processed foods not to mention the hormones and antibiotics--all lead to more imbalance and later inflammation as well.

For those of you who dont know, your skin is your largest organ. Your skin is like a sponge, soaking up all that you put on it. In the early stages of my practice, I did not realize how much people wee being affected by their skin care products. As time passes, I began to connect the dots. Pain levels could be as different as night and day depending on product use.
In other words, a person could be doing everything correctly, but, using products that are upsetting their system. This in turn could be making pain levels rise.

Often we go to the dermatologist because of a dark mark or small growth or rash somewhere on our body. Or, we may go to our internist because our hair is shedding too much or because we have toenail fungus or we may even have have more serious problems with such things as edema or hives. I give these examples because these are often things that come without a diagnosis. These are things that often your Western medical doctor will treat and take care of, but the origin may not be fully understood.
